We Rocked the Nutram Optimum Transition Challenge!
As many of you know, we have taken the Nutram Optimum Transition Challenge! We are happy to report that Lincoln and Maverick rocked it and have fully transitioned into their way to better health. They were able to do so by using a formula that worked for them. In fact, the transition was pretty seamless.
I will be honest, ever since we have been dog owners, we have tried a few different types of dog food. When we were invited to take part in the challenge, we had just recently switched dog foods. We have always opted to buy natural options but, on suggestion of a friend, we tried one that was not. Maverick had been having a reaction on his skin and we were willing to try something different.
Getting the Right Formula.

The kibble itself are neatly shaped into squares. You can definitely smell the food, it has a strong scent. It isn’t unpleasant, after all, it is dog food! Day One to Five.
The first day, the dogs knew something was up. They’re like, what in the world is this new smell in our bowls? Not to mention, they were enjoying their shiny new bowls that Nutram sent along with other goodies for them. We mixed in the Nutram according to their personalized plans.
There was a lot of sniffing to be had and after a few good sniffs, they began to dig into their bowls. I love that Nutram’s kibble are on the larger side. Mavi has sensitive gums and we usually add some water in his bowl to soften the kibble up. It soaked it up really well but didn’t get soggy!
Following the plan, we added the appropriate amount of Nutram and began to phase out their old food. We watched for any signs that they may not be taking to the formula. In the first 5 days, there was no indigestion and their stool remained the same. Which is always a plus! Linc is always regular and has normal stool and Mavi tends to have softer stool.
Day Five to Ten.
Normally, our pups tends to be low-energy. They have spurts of energy and often tire easily. It is their breed after all but, I did find that their little spurts of energy lasted longer. All to our girls’ delight because that meant for more play-time! Mavi maintained his weight and dare I say, had more of an appetite. The biggest surprise of all was that after a week, Mavi’s stool was normal. No longer soft, but it was normal and firm! This is one of the biggest wins for us, as well as the fact he hadn’t had any nausea. This means that the formula with lamb and pumpkin is working for his tummy!
Day 10 and Beyond!
They are now fully transitioned to their new Nutram T26 food and we are very happy with the results. Both dogs have done great on the food and their bodies have adjusted. I was mostly worried about Maverick during the transition but, he came out better than before. Lincoln has had reaction to new foods before but, he didn’t with Nutram. He also lost a little pudge he was carrying around, which is a great thing!
We have found that a store that is less than 5 minutes away from us that sells Nutram. So, we are excited to be able to get more once they work their way through this big bag! Natural foods tend to be a bit pricier but, we are accustomed to this so it’s not a deal breaker for us!
We compared it to buying the medium sized bag of our old food every two weeks (which is what we did) in comparison to the large Nutram T26 bag that lasts much longer. It turns out to be almost the same and saves us gas due to fewer trips to the store!
